 ELIGIBILITY:

Students in grades 9 - 12 whose directors are currently members of LMEA are eligible to audition. A student auditioning for the District Honor Choir must be a member of the school's vocal music program.  

 AUDITIONS - DATES, FEES, AND LOCATIONS:

Sr. Hi. District Honor Choir auditions are concurrent with All-State 1st round auditions.

Date:	September 17, 2011
Place:	Southeastern La. University, Pottle Music Building Registration table is in the choir room.
Time:	Times will be assigned after the registration deadline.
Fee:	• $10.00 per entry • Students - Fees should be paid to the student's school.   • Directors - A single school check, payable to L.M.E.A. District IX Vocal Account, must be mailed to Melanie St. Cyr, Slidell High School, #1 Tiger Dr., Slidell, LA  70458. Include a copy of the registration form.
Email Registration Form:	• Directors should send a hard copy of the registration form with the fees to Melanie St. Cyr. • Directors must also email the registration form to Melanie St. Cyr at melanie.st.cyr@stpsb.org by the deadline so that your students will be scheduled for audition times.
Deadline:	Postmark by August 26, 2011
Late Fee:	Be aware that schools will be assessed a $50.00 late fee if the postmark deadline is not met (as voted on by L.M.E.A. District IX members).  Students who are registered late will be assigned whatever times are still available.  All late entries must be received at least 5 days prior to an event.

 AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

Students auditioning for Sr. High District Honor Choir are required to sing the appropriate voice part of the choral selection listed below with the accompaniment CD and sight read.  

2007-08:  "O Vos Omnes" by Pablo Casals, Tetra Music - TC128

2008-09:  "Let All the Nations Praise the Lord" by Leisring, Shawnee Press – A0094

2009-10:  "Richte Mich, Gott" by Mendelssohn, edited by Jerry Wesley Harris, Alfred Pub. This is to be sung in German.

2010-11:  "Crucifixus" by Lotti (SSAATTBB), Walton Music Corp. – OCTW6006 

2011-12:  "Heilig" (Holy) by Mendelssohn (for double choir), Walton Music Corp. – W2163. This is to be sung in German.

 AUDITION RESULTS:

Audition results will be posted as soon as possible - usually the night of auditions. Click on "Audition Results" in the navagation bar on the left. 

 FEES & FORMS for students making District Honor Choir:

Fee:	$30.00 per participant T-shirts are optional and can be purchased through your director prior to honor choir.  CDs of the concert performance are optional and can be purchased at one of the rehearsals for a reduced price or at the concert for full price.
Teachers' Deadline:	Postmarked by Novemer 4, 2011  (fees and forms)
Students:	Check with your teacher for your school's deadline. Forms must be filled out, signed & turned in. Fees should be paid to the student's school.
Teachers:	A single school check, payable to L.M.E.A. District IX Vocal Account, must be mailed with the registration forms to the appropriate honor choir chairperson by the deadline. Sr. High - Melanie St. Cyr, Slidell High School, #1 Tiger Dr., Slidell, LA  70458.  Please indicate whether 9th graders have been selected to be in the Jr. Hi. or the Sr. Hi. Choir.
Late Fees:	Payments postmarked after 11/4/11 will be accessed a $50 late fee.  NO FEES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 11/30/11. Any student whose fees have not been received by the late deadline will be dropped from the roster.

 REHEARSAL and CONCERT SCHEDULE:

Jan. 5, 2012  -  Honor Choir Sectionals

Date:	January 5, 2012
Place:	Fontainebleau High (Sr. High) Fontainebleau Jr. High (Jr. High & Elementary)
Time:	6:00 - 8:00 (Roll will be taken beginning at 5:55)
Absenses/Tardies:	Students must be present and on time for ALL rehearsals and the concert. If a student is late once, they will be warned. If that person is late a second time, they will be sent home. If any student is more than 15 minutes late, their circumstances will be reviewed and they are subject to immediate dismissal.
Rehearsal Dress:	Students who participate in District Honor Choir will follow their school dress code during rehearsals.  No spaghetti straps, halter tops, sleeveless shirts, midriff-baring shirts, or skirts above the knee will be allowed.
Concert Dress Sr. Hi. :	All students should wear the concert attire for their school.   Women: If a school's concert attire does not include floor-length dresses, women should plan to wear a floor-length, solid dark-colored skirt and blouse or dress. (Check with your director to make sure your attire is appropriate.) Note:  No spaghetti straps, halter tops, sleeveless shirts, midriff-baring shirts, or skirts above the knee will be allowed. Men: If a school's attire does not include tux or suit jacket, men should wear a suit jacket with white shirt and tie, a plain solid vest with white shirt and tie, or a long sleeve white shirt and tie.  (Check with your director to make sure your attire is appropriate.)
Concert Dress Jr. Hi. (including 9th graders in jr. hi. honor choir):	Girls: "Bright white" blouse (no winter white or off white) with sleeves below the elbow, solid black skirt (knee length or longer) - solid black gauchos or slacks are also acceptable - and solid black shoes. All tops must cover the midriff. Boys: Black slacks, long-sleeve white dress shirt, tie, black shoes, black socks, and black belt.
Dress Violations:	Students not complying with all dress code requirements will not be allowed to participate. Students missing a rehearsal due to dress code violations will not be allowed to perform.
