Please
note that, although every effort has been made to ensure

ELIGIBILITY:
Students in grades 9 - 12 whose directors are current members of LMEA are eligible to audition. A student auditioning for the District Honor Band must be a member of the school's instrumental music program.

Fee: |
• $10.00 per audition • Students auditioning on more than one instrument must pay the fee for each instrument. • Fees should be paid to the student's school. A single school check, payable to L.M.E.A. District IX, must be mailed by the deadline to: Val Estoque, Slidell High School, #1 Tiger Dr., Slidell, LA 70458. |

Registration Form: |
• Directors must mail a copy of the registration form with the fees to Val Estoque. • Directors must also email the registration form to Jessica Lizana at jessica.lizana@stpsb.org by the deadline so that your students will be scheduled for audition times. |

Deadline: |
December 15, 2010 Be aware that schools will be assessed a $50.00 late fee if this deadline is not met. Students who are registered late will be assigned whatever times are still available. |

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
District Honor Band auditions include scales, a prepared etude, and sight reading as described below.
Percussion: These students are now required to demonstrate a proficiency on all percussion instruments - mallet, snare, and timpani. Click on link under "Prepared Etudes" for more information. Scale sheets for "mallet percussion" are found under "Scales."

With the exception of melodic percussion, students are responsible for preparing all twelve major scales and the chromatic scale the full range of their instrument. Specific scale requirements for mallets can be found by clicking "Percussion" below.

Reading - All
students will be required to sight read a short piece.
They are encouraged to practice sight reading
in simple, compound, and mixed meters, in a variety
of keys, and be comfortable with chromatics, accidentals,
and a variety of rhythms (including
syncopation, triplets, dotted rhythms, and rests).
AUDITION RESULTS:
Audition results will be posted as soon as available - usually the night of auditions. Click on "Audition Results" in the navagation bar on the left.
