 ELIGIBILITY:

Students in grades 7 - 9 whose directors are current members of LMEA are eligible to audition. A student auditioning for the District Honor Choir must be a member of their school's vocal music program.  

 

 AUDITION - DATES, FEES, AND LOCATIONS:

Jr. Hi. Honor Choir auditions are held as follows:

Registration table is in the chorus room.

Time:

Individual times will be assigned after registration deadline.

Fee: 

• $10.00 per entry

• Students - Fees should be paid to the student's school.  

• Directors - A single school check, payable to L.M.E.A. District IX Vocal Account, must be mailed to Sharon McNamara-Horne, Fontainebleau Jr. High, 100 Hurricane Alley, Mandeville, LA 70471. Include a hard copy of the registration form.

Email Registration Form: 

• Directors must also email the registration form to to Sharon McNamara-Horne at sharon.mcnamara-horne@stpsb.org by the deadline to assure that your students are scheduled.

Deadline: 

Postmarked by September 20, 2012

Be aware that schools will be assessed a $50.00 late fee if this deadline is not met. Students who are registered late will be assigned whatever times are still available.

 AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

circle07_red.gifStudents will be required to sing the appropriate selection from the four-year cycle listed below in his/her vocal part with CD accompaniment. CDs will be provided at the time of the audition.

 

2012-13     "Laudate Dominum" by Victoria, arr. by Snyder, 3-part mixed, Belwin Press

 

2013-14     "Sing We and Chant It" by Morley, arr. by Robinson, 3-part mixed, Alfred Press

 

2014-15     "O Vos Omnes" by Estes, 3-part mixed, Shawnee Press

 

2015-16     "Mon Cour Se Recommande a Vous" by DiLasso, arr. by Robinson, 3-part mixed, Alfred Press

 

circle07_red.gif Students will also sing the melody of "America" (not "America the Beautiful") unaccompanied in his/her vocal range. Students should choose their own starting pitch.

Audition results will be posted on this site as soon as possible - usually the night of auditions. Click on "Audition Results" in the navagation bar on the left. 

   

 FEES & FORMS for students making District Honor Choir:

    Fee:

    $30.00 per participant

    Teachers' Deadline:

    Postmarked by Novemer 2, 2012  (fees and forms)

    Students:

    Forms must be filled out, signed & turned in. (Click to download.)
    Fees should be paid to the student's school.
    Check with your teacher for your school's deadline. 

    Teachers:

    • A single school check, payable to L.M.E.A. District IX Vocal Account, must be mailed with the registration forms to the appropriate honor choir chairperson by the deadline.

    • Mail Jr. High fees & forms to Becky McLain, Madisonville Jr. High, 106 Cedar St., Madisonville, LA  70447. 

    Late Fees:

    Payments postmarked after 11/2/12 will be accessed a $50 late fee.  NO FEES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 11/30/12. Any student whose fees have not been received by the late deadline will be dropped from the roster.

    Optional:

    T-shirts are optional and can be purchased through your director prior to honor choir. 
    CDs of the concert performance are optional and can be purchased at one of the rehearsals for a reduced price or at the concert for full price. 

  

 REHEARSAL SCHEDULE:

    Fontainebleau High (Sr. High)
    Fontainebleau Jr. High (Jr. High & Elementary)

    Time:

    6:00 - 8:00 (Roll will be taken beginning at 5:55)

    Absenses/Tardies:

    Students must be present and on time for ALL rehearsals and the concert. If a student is late once, they will be warned. If that person is late a second time, they will be sent home. If any student is more than 15 minutes late, their circumstances will be reviewed and they are subject to immediate dismissal.

    Rehearsal Dress:

    Students who participate in District Honor Choir will follow their school dress code during all rehearsals.  No spaghetti straps, halter tops, sleeveless shirts, midriff-baring shirts, or skirts above the knee will be allowed.

    Concert Dress:

    Girls: "Bright white" blouse (no winter white or off white) with sleeves below the elbow, solid black skirt (knee length or longer) - black gauchos or slacks are also acceptable - and solid black shoes. All tops must cover the midriff.
    Boys: Black slacks, white long-sleeve dress shirt, tie, black shoes, black socks, and black belt.

    Dress Violations:

    Students not complying with all dress code requirements will not be allowed to participate. Students missing a rehearsal due to dress code violations will not be allowed to perform.
