 ELIGIBILITY:

Students in grades 7 - 9 whose directors are current members of LMEA are eligible to audition. A student auditioning for the District Honor Choir must be a member of the school's vocal music program.  

 

 AUDITION - DATES, FEES, AND LOCATIONS:

Jr. Hi. Honor Choir auditions are held as follows:

Individual times will be assigned after registration deadline.

Fee: 

• $10.00 per entry

• Students - Fees should be paid to the student's school.  

• Directors - A single school check, payable to L.M.E.A. District IX Vocal Account, must be mailed to Sharon McNamara-Horne, Fontainebleau Jr. High, 100 Hurricane Alley, Mandeville, LA 70471. Include a copy of the registration form.

Email Registration Form: 

• Directors should send a hard copy of the registration form with the fees to Sharon McNamara-Horne.

• Directors must also email the registration form to to Sharon McNamara-Horne at sharon.mcnamara-horne@stpsb.org by the deadline so that your students will be scheduled for audition times.

Be aware that schools will be assessed a $50.00 late fee if this deadline is not met. Students who are registered late will be assigned whatever times are still available. All late entries must be received at least 5 days prior to an event.

 AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

circle07_red.gifStudents will be required to sing the appropriate selection from the four-year cycle listed below in his/her vocal part with CD accompaniment. CDs will be provided at the time of the audition.

 

2008-09     "Laudate Dominum" by Victoria, arr. by Snyder, 3-part mixed, Belwin Press

 

2009-10     "Sing We and Chant It" by Morley, arr. by Robinson, 3-part mixed, Alfred Press

 

2010-11     "O Vos Omnes" by Estes, 3-part mixed, Shawnee Press

 

2011-12     "Mon Cour Se Recommande a Vous" by DiLasso, arr. by Robinson, 3-part mixed, Alfred Press

 

circle07_red.gif Students will also sing the melody of "America" (not "America the Beautiful") unaccompanied in his/her vocal range. Students should choose their own starting pitch.

 AUDITION RESULTS:

Audition results will be posted on this site as soon as possible - usually the night of auditions. Click on "Audition Results" in the navagation bar on the left. 

   

 FEES & FORMS for students making District Honor Choir:

    Fee:

    $30.00 per participant

    T-shirts are optional and can be purchased through your director prior to honor choir. 
    CDs of the concert performance are optional and can be purchased at one of the rehearsals for a reduced price or at the concert for full price. 

    Teachers' Deadline:

    Postmarked by Novemer 4, 2011  (fees and forms)

    Students:

    Check with your teacher for your school's deadline.
    Forms must be filled out, signed & turned in.
    Fees should be paid to the student's school.

    Teachers:

    A single school check, payable to L.M.E.A. District IX Vocal Account, must be mailed with the registration forms to the appropriate honor choir chairperson by the deadline. Jr. High - Sharon McNamara-Horne, Fontainebleau Jr. High, 100 Hurricane Alley, Mandeville, LA 70471.  Please indicate whether 9th graders have been selected to be in the Jr. Hi. or the Sr. Hi. Choir.

    Late Fees:

    Payments postmarked after 11/4/11 will be accessed a $50 late fee.  NO FEES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 11/30/11. Any student whose fees have not been received by the late deadline will be dropped from the roster.

  

 REHEARSAL SCHEDULE:

    Time:

    6:00 - 8:00 (Roll will be taken beginning at 5:55)

    Absenses/Tardies:

    Students must be present and on time for ALL rehearsals and the concert. If a student is late once, they will be warned. If that person is late a second time, they will be sent home. If any student is more than 15 minutes late, their circumstances will be reviewed and they are subject to immediate dismissal.

    Rehearsal Dress:

    Students who participate in District Honor Choir will follow their school dress code during all rehearsals.  No spaghetti straps, halter tops, sleeveless shirts, midriff-baring shirts, or skirts above the knee will be allowed.

    Concert Dress:

    Girls: "Bright white" blouse (no winter white or off white) with sleeves below the elbow, solid black skirt (knee length or longer) - black gauchos or slacks are also acceptable - and solid black shoes. All tops must cover the midriff.
    Boys: Black slacks, white long-sleeve dress shirt, tie, black shoes, black socks, and black belt.

    Dress Violations:

    Students not complying with all dress code requirements will not be allowed to participate. Students missing a rehearsal due to dress code violations will not be allowed to perform.
